Midjourney V8 is part of Midjourney's latest generation of AI image models, designed to create detailed and visually strong images from natural-language prompts. The V8 generation improves prompt understanding, image coherence, text rendering, personalisation, and creative control. The current Midjourney default is V8.2, which builds on V8.1 with improved aesthetics, image quality, personalisation, and a new image-editing system.

Midjourney V8 Models & Sub-Models

Midjourney V8.2 is the current default version of the V8 generation. It focuses on stronger aesthetics, higher image quality, better personalisation, and more creative output. It also introduces the newer Edit Model for image editing and reference-based creation.

Midjourney V8.1 was designed to improve prompt understanding, image coherence, speed, and text rendering. It introduced HD image generation and made style references, personalisation, and moodboards more consistent.

V8.0 was later retired as the V8 generation moved forward to newer versions.
